I learned how much I care about leadership and improvement. I recently took on a lot of responsibility both within the work world and within my fraternity. I could not have been happier. I look forward to making changes in both and making my own life better for it.

How much I love talking in front of people and making them laugh. I always get a thrill whenever I tell a joke and someone laughs. I cannot wait till the day when I actually get to try stand-up comedy. I also love making the people I care about laugh. Nothing is better than making you crush laugh. Best feeling ever or at least makes my day.

Always push yourself to do better even when the end is near. Being almost done does not mean that you are done. There is still work that needs to be done, so make sure it gets done.

Hot weather makes me super lazy.

I had them closed in the past, but I currently do not have any closet doors.

No, but I do use them.

How much fun it can be to just walk around town for fun. I walked a lot when I lived in Antioch, but I haven’t been in a long time. It was really good to get back out there and do some power walking around town with some cool friends.

I do not believe in destiny, but sometimes I swear signs are being thrown in my face. I still do not think too much into it, but I do think about more now.

Spend more time joying the little things in the day, they only come around once every day so enjoy them.

Don’t walk around all day without sun screen.

I learned how kind people can be. I knew people are capable of great kindness, but I never really got to experience it for myself first hand. I went to go buy a donut today, but when I got to the register I realized that I did not have any cash on me or have my debit card. I told the lady that I was sorry and she could put the donuts away (I was super embarrassed). She then told me to pay her back later. I told her I would not be coming back this way for a while, but she still let me have the donuts. I told her to at least let me give her my contact info. I was so happy I wanted to cry. I plan on going back there tomorrow and paying her in full.

Accepting your past can be really hard. I have found it difficult to except certain things from my past, but the more I talk about them with people the more I seemed to not mind as much. Being open with my friends is really starting to make me feel a lot better and understand a little more about myself.

Always pay the electric bill.

Never drink a beer with an old quarter in it.

I learned that even though the future does not seem so good now, that does not mean it will not get better. There is always change in life and sometimes it is good change. My future may turn out bad, but it has just as much chance to turn out good. I may not see a lot of possibilities at this point, but that does not mean that there won’t be in the future.

Don’t be afraid to ask people questions or invite them to things. I sometimes think I will make someone feel weird or awkward if I ask them odd questions or if they want to do something together (like lunch or see a movie). I realized that even it does seem odd that once we hang out it is not as weird as I thought it could have been. Bottom line, hang out with the people you want to and don’t be afraid to ask. (odd lesson for the day).

Always try and be productive if possible. Do not put off what you can do know. I still need more work with this.

Don’t judge a store off its appearance.

Never walk near polls or trees while texting. Look up once in a while.

That my mistakes affect the people around me. My actions or in-actions have a profound effect on the good folks around me. This can be simple mistakes like forgetting a key or big mistakes like signing on more work I might not actually have time to do. I feel bad that I let others down and make their lives harder. I guess the next step is to learn from these mistakes, acknowledge them, and move on.

That I actually mean something more to some people than I realize. I have always considered myself to be relatively unimportant in the lives of the people around me, but recently I have begun to see things differently. I have noticed that some people do see me as important to them. I sometimes overlook these people and that troubles me. I need to start paying more attention to the people who desire my attention and ideas and start paying less attention to the people who do not care. It is time to start really thinking about what my future social life will be like.

If possible always carry around a few dollars just in case, you never know what it might come in handy for.

Never leave home without your wallet and keys.

Never start playing pokemon when finals around the corner.

I learned that it feels way better to be productive than not. Sitting in bed all day may seem like a good idea, but by the end of it you feel horrible and unproductive. I need to organize my time more and push myself to become more productive.

I need to take baby steps when trying to develop relationships with some people. Try not to scare people off by coming on to strong. Learn to just let things develop normally and wait calmly.

Network more and get to know new people. I still do this, but I think it wouldn’t hurt if I did more of it daily.

Never eat something you think has been out for more than a day or two.

That quality time with a few friends can really cheer you up. Nothing can put a smile on my face like spending time with my brothers. They always know what to say to cheer me up or make me laugh.

Wonderful things happen in my dreams, but they are simply dreams. It is up to me to make them a reality.

That we are all leaders in one way or another. Some of us might not see leadership potential in ourselves, but it is there. You do not have to do great things to be considered a leader; little things can make all the difference. Leading your brothers and sisters down there right path and encouraging them for college can be leadership. We all inspire and motivate the people around us every day and it is important that we never forget that.

Avoiding an issue you have is not the best way to handle it. It is easy to simply avoid or walk away from your problems, but much harder to face them and deal with the situation. Finding ways to deal with your problems can be hard, but it is possible.

I might struggle with a lot of personal problems throughout the day, but it is always comforting to know that my brothers are there to pick me back up and put a smile on my face.

I am not good at pretending to sleep.

That first impressions are very important. During a job interview you only get once chance to make a good impression. This can also apply to social settings. I have had many weird and strange first encounters at parties or events. Also to try and keep an open mind when you meet someone new, you never know if their weird or just nervous.

That it only takes something little to remind me of my past. A simple word or comment can bring back a flood of bad memories that I thought I had forgotten about. My mood can go from positive to negative quickly when these memories come back. These memories can either be from events lot to long ago to way back into my childhood.

Not everything I learn every day is going to be positive. There is a lot of negativity in the world and it is important to learn the bad as well as the good.

I learned that quality time with good friends can help the worst of days. That just going out for the heck of it can turn your whole day around for the better. Your friends can help you get through tough days, but you can also help them as well.

Crushes are hard to get over when you have liked someone for a long enough time. That it takes more than time to get someone out of your mind. However, it could be that you might not want them out of your mind, instead you want them more in your life.

A smile from someone you care about can turn your day around for the better.

Always double wrap your burrito for best results.

That there is useful knowledge even in random stories. Your friends or professors might go off on tangents sometimes, but there is always a lesson to be learned within the story. We can always learn from others even if we do not agree with them. Everyone carries with them a piece of truth, so make sure to listen closely.

If you cannot let out what you need to say all at once then try to let it out in small amounts. I think it is important to get your feelings out in some ways, even if it takes a while. It can hurt if you hold everything in for too long.

I learned that simple networking can lead to great things. Sometimes just texting a person you barely know can lead to a whole new world of possibilities. I took 10 seconds out of my day to ask someone a question and before I knew it a whole new world of opportunity has sprung up before me. I recommend that you all take a few seconds out of your day to network with people you might not have a strong connection with. It is never too late to make new contacts and get your name out there.

I learned that when it comes to matters of the heart that sometimes you have to know when change things up. If things aren’t going your way then it is time to make a change. Maybe that means letting someone go or just opening yourself up to new ideas and experiences.

A change of environment can change your perspective on a situation. I often find that when I change my surroundings that my mood will change, often for the better. A quick trip to the gym can be supper relaxing when there is a lot running through your head.

It is super awkward to wear hiking boots and shorts when you have super white legs.

Today I learned that I should keep trying even if I do not see the point in continuing. That no matter how stubborn or negative I get to keep on trying. Hold on the ideal that things might just work out if I keep trying.

I learned that brotherhood is something not to be taken lightly. I have a better understanding of what it means to have brothers. People to count on and share my feelings with, even if I do not think I need to share.

That I am blessed to be a member of Beta Theta Pi

Sometimes a good cry is what I need in order to let the pain and stress out.

That I need to wear more shorts if I am going to make it through the summer.

To not give up on something I want even if there is little chance of me actually getting it. The chances may be one in a thousand, but that means there is still a chance. If I want it bad enough then I should keep trying even if I do not think I will succeed.

To stop overthinking things that happen or things that is said to me. Not everything has a deeper meaning than what it appears to be. Learn to turn my brain off in a way and not overthink a situation.

That the opinions of others can help to settle my mind. That a second or third opinion can be relaxing and helpful.

That you should never go apartment hunting on Sunday when all offices are closed.
